Human Resource Generalist

Financial Services call center environment with 500+ employees in St. Charles is seeking a professional HR Generalist.  This position is a true Generalist role with responsibilities in following functional area: benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, orientation, policy implementation and employment law compliance.  The Generalist will work closely with the Human Resource Team and senior management.   

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • B.S. or B.A in Human Resources or related field and five to seven years of HR experience in a Generalist role
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred
  • Recruiting experience and knowledge of Recruiting best practices and onboarding strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of compliance issues and state/federal laws, e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEOC, Title VII, FLSA, Workers Comp, Unemployment Benefits
  • Advanced PC skills with proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience in call center environment preferred
  • Solid experience in Employee Relations, including complaint investigations, documentation, and follow through
  • Three to five years experience in administration of employee benefits
  • Able to contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, promoting teamwork, and fostering positive communication
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks. Must be self-directed and detail-oriented   

Summary of duties:

  • Assists with new hire processing and conducting new hire orientation
  • Handles employee relations issues
  • Benefits administration, including FMLA, LOA
  • Discipline, documentation, and terminations
  • Maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
  • Coordinating employee events
  • Partnering with managers to foster an engaged, cohesive workforce
  • Administering Unemployment Claims, Employee Benefits and I-9 record retention
