IT Network and Systems Specialist

We are seeking an adaptable and tech-savvy IT Network and Systems Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in a broad range of technologies and eager to support and optimize our IT infrastructure. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety and is looking to grow their skills in multiple areas of IT. The role includes monitoring network equipment and servers and will require occasional visits to the data centers for physical equipment deployments and maintenance. Although primarily remote, candidates should be prepared for some travel.


Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and support network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Manage and monitor servers, both physical and virtual, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues across the organization.
• Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of operating systems and applications.
• Implement and manage security measures to protect IT infrastructure and data.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users.
• Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and system improvements.
• Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
• Monitor network equipment and servers, ensuring their optimal performance and security.
• Visit data centers occasionally for physical equipment deployments and maintenance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in IT support, network administration, systems administration, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with networking technologies and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VXLAN, BGP).
• Experience with server management and virtualization technologies (e.g., Windows Server, RedHat Linux, VMware).
• Familiarity with security best practices and tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus software).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with equipment and technologies from vendors such as IBM, HP, Dell, Cisco, and Palo Alto.



Preferred but not required:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Knowledge of ITIL Foundation best practices.
• Certifications such as:
o CompTIA A+
o CompTIA Network+
o CompTIA Security+
o Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1
o VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)
o VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
o Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
